Announcements
President Tom Moore clarified the change from the Visioning Session that opened our meetings with a prayer. The intent of the change was to expand the meeting opening to be participatory with members of the club invited to select a parable, leading a moment of silence, words of wisdom, a Rotary prayer, etc. Members may offer to lead the opening allowing more inclusivity. Tom lead the opening this week with a parable from Wise Woman's Stone.

Terri Olson won the drawing for split the pot, but did not win. The pot of $201 will continue to next week's drawing.
Last week's speaker
Todd Heiman, outgoing Treasurer provided the club with  results of our fundraising for the Rose Sale, Casino Night and the Burger and Brat fundraisers.

The three fundraisers raised almost $21,000 for the club! The Rotary Casino Night raised approximately $11,000. Rose Sale: $9,000 and Burger and Brat sale: $741. Thank you to all who worked to make our fundraising successful this year.

Todd reviewed the budget report with the club members and explained the reporting. For example the Rainy Day fund covers funding if we are unable to do our normal fundraising because of unforeseen disruptions like the pandemic. He reports we are doing very well for a club our size.

We do not ear mark donations annually. The exception to this is the International Project we agree to fund. Requests are individually requested using the club's request form available on the website. The board reviews and approves donation requests on a case by case basis.

Todd reviewed the bookkeeper and Treasurer responsibilities. The duties will be separated going forward. Ann Johnson will be the club bookkeeper. The club is seeking a treasurer.
  • Treasurer - Oversees the bookkeeper and is responsible for the organization's financial matters.
  • Bookkeeper: Responsible for the day to day financial matters and supports the treasurer.
Ely Rotary is a 501c3 that is completely separate from Rotary International. Donations are tax deductible as long as no goods or services are exchanged and the club sends the donor a letter of acknowledgment with the amount donated or the value is listed along with the 501c3 information for the club.

Credit Card Readers are under review for possible upgrade.

Thank you to Todd, for an informative report for club members, and thank you for your service as Treasurer our Ely Rotary Club.  Job well done!
