The Status of the Boise Fort Band of Chippewa

The Rotary In-Person and Zoom meeting is scheduled on Wednesday, September 7, at the Grand Ely Lodge.  The meeting will begin at 12 noon for socializing and 12:10 pm for opening. Kurt Soderberg will email invitations to members and guests.

Cathy Chavers, Tribal Chairwoman of the Boise Forte Band of Chippewa is our guest speaker this week. Cathy has over 30 years of experience serving the Boise Forte Band of Chippewa. Focusing first on health care then shifting her career to politics, she was elected Tribal Chairwoman in April of 2016.  She is the first female President of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. She serves on a number of various committees, forums and councils, including the National Indian Health Service Budget Forum and the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council.  One of her goals as Chairwoman is to be an honest and accountable leader to the Tribal members of Boise Forte.
Cathy has been married to husband Ed for over 40 years and together they have two boys, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. In her spare time she enjoys being active and spending time outdoors.
