Ida Rukavina was born and raised on the Iron Range of MN. After graduating high school from Virginia, she attended one year of community college at Mesabi Range college and then graduated from Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts with a Bachelor’s degree in Government- American Politics. In 2006, she graduated with a Masters Degree in Advocacy and Political Leadership from the University of MN, Duluth. Ida has primarily worked in government and the labor movement, spending over 10 years representing an array of public and private employees across multiple sectors. She also served with the United States Senate as a Regional Outreach Director for over six years based in Virginia, MN.

In August of 2021, she started her new position as the Executive Director of the Range Association of Municipalities and Schools (RAMS), an organization that represents schools, townships and cities in the Taconite Assistance Area of northern Minnesota. Ida lives in Pike township, north of Virginia, with her husband, Jesse Dahl, and two daughters.
