Todd Heiman welcomed members for a Zoom only regular meeting.
Today we welcomed Angela Campbell back after her surgery and she reports that she is much improved and will attend the President-elect training via Zoom. Todd will report the results of the vote on the Bylaw changes and notified us of an upcoming Board meeting on March 7th.
Ward Nelson reminded us of the 1917 beginnings of the Rotary Foundation and its more than a billion dollars that has been raised. He reminded us of our commitments to the Rotary Foundation and the benefits internationally, regionally, as well as right here with our own projects. Please consider giving this year to the Foundation.
Greg Buckley - President of Frandsen Bank
Todd Heiman introduced his former co-worker, Greg Buckley, who is now the President of the banks here in Ely. Greg is our newest member and grew up in Moline Illinois and graduated from Drake University. After college he began a banking career (Wells Fargo and TCF, etc.) and remained then with Frandsen. Since 2019 he has been associated with first Tower; and now Ely and Tower. He also owns and manages two self-storage businesses and is active in his communities. He was involved in Fayal Township, as well as Habitat for Humanity. Club members reported to him many connections with the Quad Cities area where his family still has roots.
He currently resides at his cabin on Birch Lake and has had a hobby farm near Eveleth. His hobbies include auto racing, including various aspects of mechanical work, and being driver at various events.
2022 was a good year for business at the bank, including commercial loans for businesses and residential purposes for rentals in the future.
