President Campbell welcomed those at the Grand Ely Lodge and via Zoom.
Our Board meeting was held on Monday and she gave a summary of the actions taken. A draft of the minutes have been sent to all of the membership.
Terri Olson updated us all on the Rose Sale with 153 tickets sold and another 62 sold with money not yet received.. Please get your tickets sold or turned back for the booth sales if you won't be able to do them yourself. We need to place the order soon. So far we have sold nine coupons for $1,800 and we have a deadline of next Monday to get into the books. Booth at Zup's has generated significant donations also so far.
Honoring our Long Term members, Susan Kasbeer, Joe Owens, and Craig Loughery.
Joe Owens joined our Club 2002 and was a Board member for many years until recently. He has served as President and Secretary and has been involved in many important club activities during his tenure. Kurt Soderberg recounted his persistence in recruitment and his commitment to Rotary. He and Caroline are generous donors to many causes, not the least of which is the Rotary Foundation, especially the recent Ukraine Relief. Joe has been involved in many other community organizations such as Friends of the Library and VCC Advisory Committee. Joe is all about service above self.
Susan Kasbeer is our Club's only Honorary Member based upon her service to the Club. She and Chuck joined Rotary while they were in the Florida Keys, where she also led their Interact Club. We saluted their 9/11/2001 flag during the Pledge of Allegiance today. Susan transferred to our Club in 2006 and both she and Chuck ran our Auction for many years. In addition to being so involved in our fundraising she was our Technology Coordinator, starting our website and Facebook page. She and Chuck are also generous donors to the Rotary Foundation and she can truly be given credit for bringing our Club into the 21st Century. We are grateful for all she has cone for the Club.
Finally, we celebrated Trader Craig, who also joined in 2002. He has been our Sergeant at Arms, President, and our auctioneer, along with Diane. But after that he has gone on to become a leader in the Rotary District, including District Governor from 2015 to 2016, visiting 65 clubs - each twice. Since then he has been on the Grants Committee, Public Image Committee and continues to serve both locally and regionally. He answered a number of questions and recalled his visit to the International Convention in Rio and his support from Diane. He values Rotary for being a non-political organization bringing together people from all walks of life, for a common purpose of doing good things locally, regionally, and internationally.
A fun day to honor some of our earlier members.
