Angela Campbell welcomed members for a Zoom only regular meeting.
Angela Campbell presided over today's meeting in Todd's absence. She reminded the members that the Board will meet on Monday, March 7th at 5:00 pm via Zoom.
Patti Banks - CEO of Ely Bloomenson Community Hospital
Angela introduced Patti, a fellow Rotary member, who spoke of the motto and commitment of EBCH. Since the recent changes, including the pandemic, they have made the pharmacy profitable, they added a da Vinci robotic system for surgeries, and have worked to allow the hospital to remain independent. Dr. Bollins has been involved with utilizing the robotic equipment and they are working with other potential providers. He uses the equipment for a variety of procedures.
They completed a Community Health Needs Assessment, with nearly a 30% response rate, to develop plans for the future. They are working on an implementation plan based upon this and earlier surveys. Today they are working on strategic planning for the future. They are working on clinical and service quality, care team engagement, finances, and Community.
EBCH will not be involved in the Get Healthy Ely project with the local group and the Y due to a variety of factors, including the changes to the Y and additional requirements placed on the Hospital itself. They continue to have high service satisfaction but will work to improve where they might not be as positive as they would like. While she would not declare the pandemic ended she talked about being in a different phase and we should continue to monitor St. Louis County data.
A very comprehensive update about a community asset and its leadership.
