President Heiman welcomed those at the Grand Ely Lodge and via Zoom. We reviewed the following items: The Social Committee has canceled the Twin Game due to insufficient participation. There is no meeting scheduled for July 16, 2022, the next regular meeting at Noon will be July 20th. The next Social regular meeting is July 14th at 5:30, with a visit to the Ely Area Food Shelf, followed by dinner and beverages out on the town. Board meeting will be July 11th, the second Monday of the month. Keep selling your Raffle tickets and get them back to Pat Warner. We have a PR campaign ready to go. We still have seven packets of tickets that need a seller.  Presenter Today: Autumn Cole, representing the AAUW.    We heard today about the historic change that occurred fifty years ago tomorrow when Title IX of the Education Act of 1972 was signed into law. Even though the law itself guarantees equal access to sports and activities to both men and women, it has more significantly impacted the young women in our schools.    Many of us remember how few activities there were for young women and girls - and she gave the example of how girls could only play half-court basketball for damaging their supposedly fragile bodies. She told us of the Tuesday Group presentation that included famous women athletes and coaches, as well as local and regional athletes. She talked about how her life has changed with her own participation in activities that might not have been open to her.   One of those coaches who spoke movingly was Judy Klun, longtime coach in Ely sports. She reminded us of the event coming up next Monday with other great speakers and roll models.    Thanks to Autumn for reminding us how far we have come in making programs more accessible and equitable.
