Ward represents our club for the Rotary Foundation. He is a Paul Harris fellow and spoke to our members about the work the foundation does locally and in the world. His presentation educates and updates the club on the Rotary Foundation's mission and goals.
Rotary Foundation Mission
To enable Rotarians to advance understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the elimination of poverty.
Seven areas of focus for Rotary Foundation:
- Water and Sanitation
- Economic and Community Development
- Maternal and Child Health
- Supporting the Environment
- Basic Education and Literacy
- Disease Prevention and Treatment
- Peace and Conflict Prevention and Resolution
Rotarian contributions go to:
- Polio Plus
- Annual Programs Fund
- Permanent Fund
- District Dedicated Fund
- World Fund
- Investment Earnings
Funds are distributed through matching grants, packaged grants, Peace Fellows, Polio +, and the District Designated Fund.
The Ely Club has received matching grants from the Rotary Foundation for:
- Picnic tables and benches - Whiteside Park
- Trash and recycling containers - Ely sidwalks
- Peace Pole - Whiteside Park
- Benches and table - Veteran's Memorial
- Benches - Trezona Trail
- Benches - Winton playground
- Benches - Ely Pocket Park
- Table - Veteran's Clinic Pocket Park
International Grants
- Ryan's Wells - Africa
- Water Filter Project - Haiti
- Dominican Republic Water Project
Annual Programs Fund (APF) - Every Rotarian Every Year
- Ely Club Goal - Annual donation of at least $100 from each Rotarian every year. This makes the club eligible for District Simplified Grants to do more.
- Counts toward sustaining member Paul Harris Fellow
- Paul Harris Society and Major Donor recognition.
- The Ely Club matches your donation with $100.
- Ely Club has 17 Paul Harris Fellows (Donated at least $1,000) and 13 members currently working toward this goal.

- Ward handed out or sent out letters of appeal to Ely Club members with a return envelope. He is happy to answer member's questions.
