Members and guess were welcomed and introduced. Terri Olson reported on the very successful Rose Sale that she has documented so that it is easier next year for whoever leads it. Thomas Moore discussed Holiday Party options - Insula with the rest of the restaurant still operating, or Steak House with a private room. We are focusing upon December 8th, with somewhat of a preference to go to Insula, He also updated us on future meetings as he and his wife are preparing to leave for the southwest for the winter.
Anthony Bermel - Conservation Officer (Game Warden)
Anthony Bermel has a history in law enforcement after graduating from Vermilion Community College law enforcement program but has come here to his dream job as a Conservation Officer.
He described his duties as falling in three areas: Conservation, Fair Chase, and Safety, but with a recent need to focus also upon illegal taking of decorative materials such as balsam branches for wreathes, spruce tops, and birch poles.
Conservation involves game and fish taken illegally or over the limit.
Fair chase is illegal deer baiting, spewing violations, and hunting while on a public road.
Safety involves proper vests while hunting, snowmobile speed and operation, boating safety, and ATV usage.
He showed photos and gave us stories and answered many questions in a lively presentation that could have gone on much longer.
Thanks to Anthony for returning to the Club to present.
