President Heiman welcomed those at the Grand Ely Lodge and via Zoom. He reviewed some recent activities. The benches, tables, etc. have arrived for the Chamber of Commerce and Hidden Valley and will be delivered by the City. The ECR Children's Garden equipment will arrive soon.
We have a Board meeting this coming Monday and a draft agenda will be emailed to all in the next couple of days.
Raffle tickets are ready for distribution and were handed out to those in attendance. Please contact Pat Warner or he will come and find you.
Mental Health Awareness Month - May 2022
Our own Lori Linkous was kind enough to present on short notice from her remote location in Maine where she is temporarily residing.
Sh answered questions generally about the Ely Behavioral Health Network, but wanted to promote Mental Health Awareness Month with the events centering on a display of Anti Stigma Art at Ely's Historic State Theater and a request for more artwork of that topic. Lisa handed out a flyer on a concert on May 19th at the Theater with Sam Miltich, for a night of Art and Jazz. Sam has a national reputation and the concert will fill the theater, we hope.
The Anti Stigma art campaign calls for artist who use art to cope with and express their mental health and art that represents mental illness, experience, struggle, recovery, or wellness.
They also are working with the schools at all levels to bring greater awareness of the prevalence of mental illness in our community and the resources available to help to work toward recovery.
Thanks to Lori for making us all more aware of our community and some of the struggles that can be experienced by some.
