President Campbell welcomed those at the Grand Ely Lodge and via Zoom. Today we inducted Jeannie Burlowski into our Club. Jeannie spoke of her background in Ely, her current professional presentations providing advice to parents and students on how to get into and pay for higher education and how she will use Rotary as a platform as she travels.
We were reminded of our upcoming Rose Sale and that it will be topic for next week.
Presenter: Larry Reedy, St. Louis County Law Enforcement Chaplain.
Larry Reedy is well-known in Ely as a former police officer, auctioneer, and co-owner of the Ely License Bureau. What many of us did not know is his work for the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief program, but more importantly his work as a Chaplain from his ministry, working with law enforcement officers.
He told of us his disaster assistance work around the country and then described his work with law enforcement officers experiencing mental and behavioral health issues. Working behind the "Blue Line" is difficult, but he stressed their confidentiality and efforts to work proactively in situations where stress most likely is experienced.
Theirs is a charitable organization, supported by volunteers, with some support for the budgets of the agencies they support. Check out their websites at icpc4cops.org
Thanks to Larry for presenting and for his work.
