100th Anniversary and Annual Auction raises money and awareness for the Rotary Club of Ely.
The Rotary Club of Ely celebrated its 100th Anniversary in style with a beautiful day on August 14th. Over one hundred and fifty people gathered in Whiteside Park to celebrate, listen to live music, feast on some wonderful food, and support the Ely Rotary through donations raised during the live and silent auction. "I thought it was awesome. I thought people had a lot of fun," said Rotary President Todd Heiman. The Club was honored with the opening remark from Ely Mayor Chuck Novak and Rotary District Governor Keith Brokke. Both praised the Rotary's work throughout the community, including the bench and picnic tables seen around the park. President Heiman said, "The weather cooperated, and it was well attended. It was a nice environment, people were having fun, and people were generous. Certainly, we got a lot of wonderful donations. It’s amazing the generosity of the businesses in town." All totaled between the auction, the raffle, and beverage sales, over $38,000 was raised to support the club's work. The Rotary Club of Ely can not give enough thanks to all of the individuals and businesses that came together and donated time, talent and treasure to make this event such a success. Cheers to another hundred years of Ely Rotary!!
