Laura grew up in Missoula, Montana, and obtained her bachelors degree in ecology from the University of Montana in 2012. She moved to Ely after securing an internship at the International Wolf Center and has lived here for nearly 10 years. Laura currently works as a Forester for the US Forest Service and will graduate from Colorado State University in May with her masters degree in Natural Resources Stewardship. She lives in Ely with her husband, Dalton, daughter, Rowan, and dog, Ruger. |

“Never Dry: The Rise of Prohibition on the Iron Range”
Presented by: Allyse Freeman, Curator at the MN Discovery Center
Originally from a suburb of Chicago, Allyse Freeman has been the curator at the Minnesota Discovery Center since 2014. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in History, Anthropology and Geology from Augustana College and her Master’s in Anthropology and Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Allyse’s accomplishments at MDC include creating three award winning exhibits that brought new perspectives to local history. Her passion primarily rests in labor history, and she has come to appreciate and love all things related to the Iron Range’s past.
