Jul 21, 2021 12:00 PM
Although new to the role of General Manager, Andy is not new to Veterans on the Lake Resort. He has been coming to VOTL with a group of disabled Veterans from Iowa for 25 years. A civilian volunteer for the Iowa Paralyzed Veterans of America, Andy and his group of volunteers (All Hands on Deck) is the single largest all volunteer fundraising group the PVA has ever seen in it's history, solidifying this full funded trip for the next 3 years. Andy's efforts provide a FREE trip to Veterans on the Lake Resort for Veterans and a caregiver once a year. Andy has adopted Veterans on the Lake as his home and believes in the mission of VOTL.
Andy and his wife Lara, are both born and raised in West Branch, Iowa. Veterans on the Lake is their dream come true. With a passion to serve Veterans and the community they live in, Andy and Lara look forward to all Ely is.

Lake Vermilion Cultural Center, Tower, MN
Jul 28, 2021 12:00 PM
An early patron of the Lake Vermilion Cultural Center, Iron Ranger Alex Batinich was enamored with historic St. Mary’s Church. As a carpenter/builder, he was adamant that the building should be moved, preserved, and expanded to become the LVCC. A group of his friends, along with many family members, held a fundraiser in honor of Alex on his 100th birthday and were able to raise enough funds to finish insulating and shingling the expansive roof. Now funds are being raised to complete installing the siding and inserting the leaded stained glass windows. The past year and a half have been unusual for all nonprofits as well as for the rest of us. In spite of the difficulty in fundraising and building, we have managed to make great progress on our building in Tower. Elsewhere in this newsletter you can find information on some of our progress. What you can’t see yet is the beautiful change this has made to Tower’s Main Stree |
